Cbank: Russia’s gold reserves rise 1.26% to 1,499 tns in June
MOSCOW, Jul 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gold reserves, part of the country’s international reserves, increased by 1.26% in June to 48.2 million troy ounces, or 1,499.19 tonnes, as of July 1, according to data of the central bank, seen by PRIME on Wednesday.
The value of gold reserves rose 9.6% in June to U.S. $63.497 billion. The share of gold in Russia’s foreign exchange and gold reserves increased to 16.17% from 14.94%.
The central bank purchased 3.1 tonnes of monetary gold in May, 15.6 tonnes in April and in March, 9.3 tonnes in February and 21.8 tonnes in January.
In 2015, Russia’s gold reserves rose by 17.27% to 45.5 million troy ounces, or 1,415.2 tonnes.
International, or foreign exchange and gold reserves, include monetary gold, Special Drawing Rights (the International Monetary Fund’s currency) and foreign currency.
